The Institute's mission is to research, develop and preserve art music, other genres of contemporary art and architecture. The Institute aims to preserve and develop music in the broader sense of the word, to connect with other contemporary arts and architecture, to provide a space for Slovenian and international artists to work in Slovenia and abroad, and thus to facilitate intercultural dialogue. To achieve this aim, the institute organises a variety of cultural events for diverse audiences, publishes physical and digital sound recordings, organises non-formal education and publishes authors and other literature. The Institute promotes critical-analytical discourse and cultural-artistic creativity, and engages in networking and active cooperation with related institutions at local, national and global levels.
